"Cerro Cufría, rising to 909 meters in the rugged Sierra Cabrera range of Andalucía, offers a remote and rewarding summit for those willing to take on its challenges. Located near the Mediterranean coast in Almería province, this peak is lesser-known but delivers expansive views and a strong sense of solitude. The approach to the base is not for the faint-hearted. The lower slopes are thick with sticky green maquis—dense Mediterranean scrub that clings to clothing and slows progress considerably. There are no marked trails, and route-finding requires patience and persistence. The climb itself is straightforward in terms of terrain, but the summer heat in Andalucía adds a serious layer of difficulty. With temperatures soaring and little shade along the way, hydration and early starts are essential.
