"3.13.21~Peaks 2,758’ & 2,720’ (Kamber). 7.5 miles E-Mtn bike, 2 miles, 800’ gain on foot. I Mtn biked from home for an eco approach. I’m so bad at finding registers so I didn’t sign in on Kamber. There is an 80’ peace sign made of rock on the east side of 2,720’. Wish I would have noticed it from above so I could have taken a better photo. The River Mtns are always a delight with happy views. "I'm still recovering from my bout of Covid-19 from late December, and I've been pushing myself harder than I should. So, this past week I dialed it back a notch (or several notches, really; it is NOT turned to 11 right now!) and lowered my activity level. I still wanted to get something in today, though; so, time to do an easier desert peak. I've ridden past Kamber peak on the River Mountains Loop Trail several times. It's funny how something can look so close from the road, but it's actually quite a ways in (and quite a ways up). Rather than looking at previous tracks, we just parked and went at it. Followed the wash up to the peak area, and made the call to go up on the south face. The rock is very loose and fragile and breaks easily; needed high attention to detail to get up the side. Steep, for sure, but not the worst stuff I've gone up. The view from the top is gorgeous, and that rock pile is incredibly impressive. It's much taller than I am, and I'm not what most people would call short...! After admiring the view for a while (and getting our heart rates back down from coming straight up the south face), we descended via the north face to the saddle and then down to the flatt..." — psychikingjes • Jan 24, 2021
"Finally the Vegas valley heat is starting to dip and it was time again for a good warm up hike. I took a friend with me to check out the views from Kamber. It's not particularly high, but fairly steep, and there's no trail. Only a little challenging but a really good workout, especially after not hiking too much in the heat of summer. It was a beautiful day, but there was a lot of haze in the valley, likely from the wildfires in California, which made it difficult to see Mt. Charleston clearly." — GMan • Oct 11, 2020
"No actual trail to the summit, but that wasn't any issue. This is a fun, not very difficult hike. Someone definitely got a workout building the mound on the top! It's been there for years, so it must have taken a while to complete. No animals on this trip, though I've seen a coyote in the area on prior hike." — GMan • Feb 16, 2020
