"3.13.23~Random Hamblin & Jacal peaks w/Fances. 7.6 miles, 1,500’ gain in 2:35hrs. She was heading out there for her workout and sent me a red alert text to come hang and I bit down on that hook hard….she reeled my a$$ in to this beautiful area on a warm & lovely day. I haven’t been in my shorts drawer in months. I left the peak early for a jog but I was feeling like I don’t take the mtn beating as well as I use to, but I still got back in :47 min. "The four peak route that we took included a steep and loose descent from J.A.C.A.L Peak over to East Hamblin Peak. If you are use to this type of terrain, then it should be okay for you. It might be better to do the route in reverse from what we did and ascend that section. " — Heartattackbruce • Mar 12, 2023
"Dylan was back in town for the weekend and wanted to go on a hike. Hadn't hiked in a while, so we wanted something familiar. We took advantage of the lowering temps for a favorite hike out by Lake Mead." — Kevin • Oct 18, 2020
"2.23.19...7.7 miles, 1,500’ gain in 2:34hr. Jimmy needed to get off the grid because of work stress so I took him to a couple of my fav LMNRA Peaks. We had to hurry and get back to take the twins to dance. We were surprised there was snow out there too. This route is a giver with expansive views. He loved it. The clay in the washes was wet and clumping to our shoes so it made it hard to jog those portions. We saw a herd of Bighorn sheep grazing. Lots of new grasses growing. "We took the standard route to Hamblin, making a short side trip to J.A.C.A.L. Peak, which I hadn't been to (Barry skipped this one). 5 hikers (2 of which were on our hike today) previously named this point using the first letter of each of their first names. From Hamblin, we went down the steep west side to the saddle, then all but Barry & Justine went up to West Hamblin, which nobody else in our group had been to other than myself. After returning to the gully, we descended north down another loose gully to the valley below, then made our way to the shoulder of Basalt Peak, where Justine & Barry peeled off and went down, while the rest of us trudged up to the summit, making this a nice 4-peak day. We took a different drainage down, which was nice. What a fun group we had today!" — Kevin • Dec 22, 2018
"This was my second time on this peak. Don't remember the date of the first. I camped atop Hamblin Mt., then came over this on the way down & descended it toward Pinto Valley. Spent a second night camping in Pinto Valley." — StudioHoodoo • Apr 23, 2011
