"Gold butte peak is like playground jr. Fun traverse . Found a random rusted can on the way up mica that had this old “notice of location” paper in it . Couldn’t read much else it was in terrible shape . I also punctured a hole in my sandal on playground so hence the sneakers ! " — joshortman • Feb 9, 2023
"My first trip out to Gold Butte National Monument! Now that I've been out there, I know I need to come back. We camped at the Gold Butte Townsite, and from our campsite the first morning we hiked up to the peak, explored the mines, and came back. A beautiful day, an easy route (follow the surprisingly steep abandoned road), and only one rattlesnake sunning himself on the road on the way back down. Ooops! The only bushwhacking/"routefinding" was from the top of the road to the peak, which wasn't very far. This peak is fairly vertical, that's the only issue; the road is surprisingly steep and climbs the vast majority of the elevation in only a short amount of distance." — psychikingjes • May 11, 2019
"I was out Geocaching in the area. There was a cache at the mine site, near the peak. After grabbing that, I finished hiking up to the peak. There is a road that goes almost all the way up, but it is very narrow & degraded. I did not feel comfortable driving my Jeep up the road, so I hiked up." — Kevin • Dec 23, 2011
