"My brother and I took the southern approach from the Tenny Ranch. You actually may be able to get pretty close in 2WD, but probably not right to where we parked. We parked at the windmill. We took Tenny Ranch Rd. from Anteras Rd., and Tenny Ranch Rd. was rougher and requires high clearance. The other road, Music Ranch, was pretty good, and we took that on the way out. We met up with it on the drive in, not even knowing that it existed. It is about 3.3 miles east of Tenny Ranch Rd., and the two meet up south of the ranch. As for the hike, we hiked up the south ridge to the rim, then made our way northwest to the summit, trying to pick out the least vegetated route as possible. Much of the route wasn't bad, but there were several sections where we had to fight through some brush. Overall though, it wasn't bad. We made it to the summit in 2:39, spent about 43 minutes up there, and got back in 5:35 total time. It was about 7.4 miles, and probably 2800 ft. of elevation gain. " — ZachTeich • Mar 4, 2025
"Access road through Grand Canyon West Ranch in pretty good shape. Parked at Rays Place and did a horrible job of avoiding brush on the ascent until about 5800’ where it became more pinyon pine. Views of the western Grand Canyon from the summit. Did better with route finding on the descent with the wash immediately east of Rays Place being brush free. "Last and Final Peak of the year. Interestingly the last entry in the Register was from the 30th Dec 2014, so it is rarely climbed even though it has over 2000 Feet of Prominence and is on the Prominence List for Arizona. Well it is very brushy and trails do not exist. Follow Cow Paths and Game trails. Incredible View once on top." — Nuernberger • Dec 31, 2015
