"From Ridgeline Trailhead in San Marcos, I went the “express route” up a summit use trail. On the way back I formed a loop by taking the wide pathway that goes along the lower slopes of the peak. It’s a popular place, especially since it can be driven to the top. I even walked in on a marriage ceremony on the summit." — MikeTeeples • Nov 11, 2025
"Instead of driving to the top, I took some local trails. Unfortunately, my tracking cut off along the way. Total mileage is about 2.1 miles. Started and ended the hike at the Ridgeline Trailhead." — MikeTeeples • Jun 7, 2025
"Saw many people climbing this mountain on the side of the road. Sort of like walking a sidewalk to the top. Although this is a more sporting way to reach the summit, I felt no guilt in driving to the parking lot on top. If they built a road up there, then why would I want to walk a sidewalk up there? Double Peak Park sits just below the summit. Once in the parking lot, it was a short walk to the top." — MikeTeeples • Jan 1, 2020
"Nice little hike for a Sunday stroll in the rain to recover from yesterdays hike 7 mile hike and 1416 feet in elevation gain to Cedar Creek Falls. Todays hike was about 4.51 miles and 1092 feet in elevation gain. I opted to take the road less travelled on the way down which made this a loop hike. " — Philip-Yoho • Apr 10, 2016
