"What a way to start out the year, I climbed California’s Mt Whitney in the middle of winter! What’s that...it’s a different Mt Whitney? Oh well, it is still a peak, anyway. Made this hike a two for one special by including Franks Peak. From the Ridgeline Trailhead parking lot, I crossed the street to Double Peak School. I then made a sharp left at the gate and followed the paved road to the end of the school property. I then turned left on a dirt road which led to the base of Mt Whitney and Franks Peak. Once picking up the access road on the right, I followed it to the summit of Mt Whitney. After a short visit, I followed the dirt road to neighboring Franks Peak. " — MikeTeeples • Jan 1, 2020
"Steep hike up to the highest point in coastal North County San Diego. My altimeter said 1654 ft. Incredible views on clear day like today was. Could see the distant snowcapped mountains to the north. A radio tower crowns the summit. " — chrish • Feb 8, 2019
"Night Hike. Beautiful 65-degree night in the middle of January. Eat your heart out, Wisconsin. This is why we live here. Short, steep walk up the access road. I'll be doing this one again." — benjineer • Jan 9, 2012
