"Today I am going to the Natural Zone of Cabo Tiñoso, the sea and the mountains meet here in this place that is full of disused military fortifications.
They can be visited and some even seem to be being rehabilitated.
At the top of the Picadera I have lunch inside a bunker while I wonder what the soldiers in charge of the place would eat in the fifties.
In the Atalayon the military buildings are neoclassical in style and with solid walls, they dominated the entire bay of Mazarrón and were almost impregnable places. The vegetation and numerous birds are now witnesses of these places that have been detained in time." — franciscobirruezo • Apr 15, 2023
"I return to this route after several years and I am surprised to see more vegetation and many flowering shrubs, perhaps due to good
temperatures these days.
I also find numerous hikers on the main path, but on the ascent to the peaks I am alone.
The four elements are united here, water, earth, air and fire (represented by the sun and the numerous volcanic stones).
A protected place for those of us who love nature to enjoy, near the top I hear some partridges in the distance and other birds.
I take lunch at the top looking at the sea horizon while I enjoy the sun for a while.
Back, I sit for a few minutes on the sand on the beach to look at the mountains that I just climbed from below." — franciscobirruezo • Jan 14, 2023
"I descend the Cabezo de la Escucha on a slope full of volcanic stones while I find small caves. I'm heading to a pass between hills to get to Cerro del Atalayón. I reach the top through a chaos of stone blocks and several caves.
The views are good. I go down the north side and when I get down I have approached the cliffs to see how the waves break." — franciscobirruezo • Apr 18, 2019

. At the summit a storm fell that formed in a few minutes, I could see a rainbow. Then I looked down a rocky slope and rested a bit on the sand on the beach." — franciscobirruezo • Oct 27, 2018
