"Started from USFS Station 11 and took the Mt Lukens Truck Trail.
I did the off-trail detour to visit Hawks Pk. Wasn't sure if I would be able to rejoin the trail if I pushed forward, so I turned back and reconnected to the main trail where I started the detour. Next stop was Mt Lukens itself. I visited Mt Pickens and Bee Flats on the way back.
About 15.5 miles total, in ~7 hours.
The main trail was nice and steady, but didn't encounter another hiker til I reached Mt Lukens. The only real difficulty was the heat today. The detours to Pickens and Hawks were also pretty rough, and I doubt I'd want to revisit them." — oskar156 • Aug 2, 2026
"I climbed up the Crosstown Trail with the OC gramps and the hiek was quite nice, it started out on dirt tracks but then turned to switchbacking hill climbs that went all the way up. SOmetimes the trail splits in twain, the views were excellent though today! Then I came upon the peak after some steep climbing along this groomed trail and the teepee was basically abunch of logs together but the views from the Bee Flats were aight! " — lc444 • Apr 4, 2026
"From the fire station on Angeles Crest Highway, I picked up the fire road heading toward Mount Lukens. Instead of going all the way to Mt Lukens, I concentrated on a few peaks along the way. Both Pickens and Hawks required long climbs on overgrown fire breaks to reach their summits. I saved Bee Flats for last, which is an easy visit." — MikeTeeples • Nov 9, 2024
"Walked up Mt Lukens Truck Trail for 2.3 miles before reaching a mailbox on the side of the road. I turned left there and continued on a foot path to a teepee on the summit. When finished, I returned the way I came." — MikeTeeples • Mar 27, 2021
