"This peak did not have a cairn, so as apparent first ascenders we named it 'Wolf Peak' as we had seen what looked like three wolves several times in the distance the previous two evenings and again standing on a nearby ridge during breakfast the intervening morning. (As well, the name honors Edmonton Regional Search and Rescue's WOLF (Wilderness Overland Light and Fast) team, of which one of us is a member.) We doubted that we had seen wolves, since we were unaware of any recent records of wolves in the area, but we had seen no people for days and could not see how any dogs could survive so far from civilization. However, when on the summit of 'Wolf Peak', we could see an outfitter's camp far down the valley toward the Job Pass trail and we then hypothesized that these were likely outfitter camp dogs going on overnight adventures away from their owner. At any rate, we decided to refer to this peak as 'Wolf Peak'. We ascended Wolf Peak from the north side, up an obvious route to the col southwest of the summit, then along talus up the southwest ridge to the summit.
