"Cold morning had a late start so ended up here. Skied up the westside trail and went to the actual marked summit. A sign and fresh snow covering the trail had me going the wrong way near the start of the climb, should of checked GPS sooner. Battery died just before the summit. " — Randy • Feb 2, 2022
"Did a lap with the new mountaineering boots. About hal;f way up I was developing hot spots, but since I had not been out much lately I decided to just keep going anyways and get the job done. It was blowing snow with no views at the top. Otherwise a good much needed outing." — BertB • Mar 6, 2021
"Just needed to get out on something easy. Not up for a lot of suffering as of late. Just hoping to get out on weekly basis to get back in shape. I brought microspikes but didn't use them." — BertB • Feb 20, 2021
"Needed an outing, but given the week, I didn't want to to something too long or strenuous. Got a good workout in. The trail was packed snow, not icy, so no need for microspikes today." — BertB • Jan 16, 2021
"Weather was mostly overcast with some sun. Temps were a bit below 0C, but that was fine. Nice to get out with a friend after enough isolation and two weeks away from the mountains." — BertB • Nov 14, 2020
"Decided to hike up Sulphur Mountain with the possibility of going beyond the historic cosmic ray observatory. Conditions were good, and I felt good so I hopped over the fence and went to the next bump, which is actually where Sanson Peak is according to the maps. A bit of sidesloping and then on the ridge. On the way back I probably collected a garbage bag of junk." — BertB • Oct 10, 2020
"It was cold -23C in the parking lot. I came layered. I did pretty good, managed to not sweat too much. Decided to continue right to the summit (as opposed to stopping at top of gondola) as I was doing good and not freezing. The way down was nice. I stayed warm. Didn't use the microspikes." — BertB • Jan 12, 2020
"Just hiked up with a weighted pack to get some for some fresh air and training. Didn't need microspikes, nor the trekking poles, nor most of the other items in my pack (6 ice screws, climbing skins, bear spray). Dragged the big camera up with the wide angle lens for these pics." — BertB • Dec 16, 2018
"Lisa, Charlotte, Janine, Feli, Olenka, Ron, Stephan and I went up the backside on Cosmic Ray Road to the summit. It was super quiet on the way up with only one guy running past us. At the junction with the normal trail we ran into tons of people as expected. On the way down CRR we saw about 10 people coming up, so it got a bit busier. There was some snow and a few slippery bits that required traction, but it was otherwise fine. We all had a good time." — leigh-annewebster • Oct 28, 2017
"This was my first time hiking Sulphur Mountain to Sanson Peak. I could not believe the views when making it up to the top. It literally took my breathe away. The conditions were beautiful on the way up. However hikers need to make sure they are not going off the path, some places are starting to get trampled. Getting to the top, tourists are feeding the chipmunks so they now have no issues coming up to your lunch bag and trying to go into it. For garabage bins placed everywhere at the summit, I was a little disappointed to see people throwing garbage on the ground. I picked up more garbage in the 30 minutes I was up there then I would have liked to see. I live in Alberta, so I find it extremely disrespectful to liter, especially at places like these! Understanding that people will do what they want, it would be nice to see this stop. It started to rain as we began our way back down which was extremely nice and refreshing. It was not enough to make any rocks on the path slippery or anything. I was very impressed with Sulphur Mountain and the Sanson Peak Summit and would go again in a heart beat!
