"4 of us headed up Stratton along the Long Trail from the south. Plenty of ice along the way. We wore microspikes the whole time. Not worth going up the fire tower today because of the cloud on the summit and also the wind whipping across the fire tower. Quick hike today. " — newenglandwarrior • Jan 16, 2023

"It was a nice ride with beautiful colours in the trees.
There were volunteers at the summit.
The fire tower view is great and without it, the wooden summit would have no view.
The trail was muddy, I do not know if this is the usual condition or the consequence of yesterday's rain." — pierredenommee • Oct 5, 2018

"Late start, hit trailhead at 11am...had hoped to also grab equinox but my hiking partner showed up 2 hours late. This one was SUPER EASY!! Just rolling hills and a really great (but cold) view from the fire tower. " — shay-shay • Dec 20, 2017

"Took long trail up, was a nice gradual ascent over 3.4 miles. Trail conditions were excellent, almost no mud at all. No views at the summit, unless you are prepared to climb the 60 foot tower. But when you do, the reward is excellent. " — Kazmuglin • Apr 30, 2016
"Hiked with my sister Kellie to celebrate earth day. Got to Kelley Stand Rd. At around 10am. Pretty straightforward hike to the tower. Snow and ice are all gone. Even though there was rain and thunderstorms in the forecast we had sun and blue skies all day. Spent some time at the summit and drank a couple beers. Nice day overall." — LGH-Tom • Apr 22, 2016

"Hiked with Tommy. Covered the 7ish miles in a little under 3 hours not including stop time at the summit (the only time we actually stopped). The weather was supposed to be crap, with predicted thunderstorms, my brother almost cancelled on me. Thankfully he didn't - it was humid and there were some raindrops on the drive there and back, but we had a hazy but nice day with views. We really booked up this mountain! The trail was fantastic, well-packed from lots of AT thru hikers I'm sure- it was reminiscent of hiking in the Catskills, very rocky. The Firetower is in great shape, with windows in tact & we hung out in the cab for almost an hour. Nice hike, nice day. " — kellieirene • Apr 22, 2016

"I hiked the AT from CT into VT in '13. I can't recall dates, so just putting one. Well, I started breaking them up, however I think anyone who reads this will know I didn't do them all in one day...." — kristib • Jun 18, 2013

"A rather easy and gradual 3.4 miles on the AT/LT to the summit. 55 foot fire tower gives excellent views. 4.5 hours total roundtrip including lunch on summit! Cheers to James Taylor for his vision." — mikezilla • Jun 5, 2012

"Albany ADK trip led by Fred Schroeder.
Cloudy, but no rain until driving home.
Fair views. Swam (waded) in Stratton Pond.
Photographed an AT thru hiker, got his address, will mail him photo later." — barbaratraver • Jul 6, 1989
