"With Joanna. Rowling End:- Steep, tiring, hot, and horrible. We seen a tree though. Oh yeah, half a sheep's face too. As well as other bits of the same sheep laying about everywhere. Causey Pike:- Not sure if this was terrifying or exhilarating. Scar Crags:-Worth it. Such red. Wow. (The recent heat wave seems to have made all the plants red? It looked cool anyways.) Sail:- **** that path. The Rest:- We nearly ran out of water, so we decided to head back.. Then my GPS died, so I didn't log the last couple of miles. Awesome walk all in all. 11/10 would walk again.

"A better day than earlier in the week, we parked near Uzzicar in the Newlands Valley. We walked up the old mines track alongside Stonycroft Gill, on the lower slopes of Barrow. The track then passed near the summit of Outerside 568m, crossed High Moss then ascended steeply by Long Crags to Sail Pass. Then wind up the final 150m to the flat summit, with its very small summit cairn. From the summit we descended W to a col, then up a steep ridge to the broad top of Crag Hill 839m. After a short break on the summit, we descended to Coledale Hause, then down the mines track to Force Crag mine. Near the mine, we leave the main track and climb 220m towards Outerside, to regain our inward path and return alongside Stonycroft Gill to our startpoint." — davidlong • Oct 26, 2017
"Part of the Coledale Horseshoe walk, did this on a sunny November day, starting in the Newlands valley by ascending Causey Pike, then Sail, Crag Hill, down to Coledale Hause, then up to Grisedale Pike and drop down to Braithwaite Village, before walking back over to the Newlands valley. Note the new zig zag footpath up the steep side of Sail. " — davidlong • Nov 6, 2011
