"Couldn't think of a better place to hike on Easter weekend than Rabbit Peak, so I "hopped" to it. I parked outside of Monte Cristo Campground and picked up Forest Road 3N23. I followed 3N23 for 2 miles to an intersection. I turned left and followed this road (4N18) for 0.8 miles. I then turned right on a narrow use trail that climbed to the base of one of the power line towers above the road. From there, I could detect a use trail following the ridge all the way up to the summit. Nice short afternoon outing to check off another HPS peak." — MikeTeeples • Apr 3, 2021
"Parked off of the Angeles Forest Highway at the Monte Cristo Campground. (Hikers used to be able to park in a parking lot designated for hikers in the campground, but the FS turned it into a fee campground-thanks a lot FS.) At the north end of the campground, get on 3N23 by going around the locked gate then turning left (northerly) at 4N18. When you get right under the crackling /popping power lines, look for a spur on the right that goes a short distance up to one of the high tension line towers. From here you can see the peak in a southeasterly direction. The easiest way up is to thread the brush northeasterly to gain the ridge at the lowest point that you can, then take it south to the peak." — thesearcherextraordinaire • May 26, 2017
"I hiked the Iron, Roundtop, Granite, Rabbit loop counterclockwise from Monte Cristo campground. This was the last of the four peaks and felt like a smallish bump compared to Roundtop and Granite. I took the dirt road down into Monte Cristo canyon on the way back to teh campground. There was a healthy trickle of water in the creek bed and some big bushes covered with yellow flowers.

"2.8 mile ascent w/1,200' gain on trails and fire road from HPS' Iron Mountain #3. 3rd peak of 3-peak hike from Monte Cristo CG, sequence Monte Cristo Peak-Iron Mtn-Rabbit Peak #1. Descent was a quick x-country route to the lower fire road, fun plunge step." — BradStemm • Feb 17, 2014
