Sunday 17th Dec 2017 Stroll: Sunday morning - wanted somewhere close, new preferably and short. Did Bag Tor last time, ticked off, nearby decided on Pinchaford Ball. From the Haytor higher car park just head away from Haytor on the highest part of the hill (398m on OS Explorer). Avoid dropping down either side. Soon the hill drops east and the outcrops become visible. While small and flat, they are pleasant and a great way to get away from the busyness of Haytor. Nice views too. #getthistorrecognised

fyi we're working on getting this up on peakery: https://peakery.com/challenges/dartmoor-tors-and-rocks-challenge/

Check out http://www.moorlandwalks.co.uk/p/dartmoor-tors-and-rocks-map.html MEGA excited to have this!
scott
Wow that's a great map. Glad to have you on peakery, we'll definitely need some help putting this challenge together. The public/private info is very useful. We're only looking to include the tors within the boundaries of the national park. Are all of these publicly accessible?
torbagger
Orange is private - red is public :)
torbagger
I've discovered a new tor, I named it Kennick Rocks. This is not official and is waiting to be somewhat recognised.
torbagger
I can add some IUW ;-)
scott
Thanks. To add a missing one on peakery, you can go to https://peakery.com/peaks/add/ (linked to from the Map page).
torbagger
Oh thanks - I've added loads already. I meant onto the challenge ;)
scott
Oh right, of course you have... thanks for all those contributions. For the challenge our source right now is this list compiled by Adrian Colston: https://adriancolston.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/the-tors-hills-and-rocks-of-dartmoor.xlsx (excluding the hills so 352 tors & rocks). Once we get that entire list into the challenge would definitely like your help adding/removing tors and any other edits (adding tor photos ideally in landscape orientation, editing elevations, locations, etc.).
torbagger
Yep :) I, from now on add photos in landscape. peakery doesn't work too well in portrait.
scott
Thx...we have a display bug with portrait that we plan to fix shortly, but outside of that the design just isn't set up to handle portrait photos as the feature peak photos. But elsewhere on the site adding portrait photos should work OK (e.g., other peak photos, in summit logs, etc.)
torbagger
Yep. For some peak photos i'm adding landscape as they look and fit best etc :)
