"This area of Moratalla is quite wild, I leave my car near the Casa del Cristo and guides me with the GPS along the trails in the area but always in the direction of Pico del Fraile and Pico 1404.
I don't see anyone else today, only forest, fauna and mountains. The trail sometimes gets lost and the forest is quite thick so it's easy to get lost.
The ascent to the pass that joins the two peaks is steep and rocky. Once there, I first climbed Pico del Fraile, where I had lunch, while a strong wind began to blow that cleared the sky.
The ascent to Peak 1404 has some climbs where you have to hold on with your hands and feet, but someone put milestones that help you see where to climb. This peak is rockier than the previous one,
but also a little higher and offers magnificent views." — franciscobirruezo • Apr 29, 2023
"Good day to climb this peak that is almost twin of Pico 1404 m. The mild temperature has helped me a lot in the climb. In the abandoned farm of Santa Ana there is a path that is gaining height, it is divided several times when it crosses a forest and climbs up a hill that separates the two peaks. To climb this you have to overcome some rock walls with care. After making the summit at Pico 1404 m, I had a little lunch and decided to climb Pico del Fraile. I see many butterflies, some are new to me. Today there is no one else here and nature evolves at its pace with extraordinary beauty." — franciscobirruezo • Jun 15, 2019
"You do not see this peak until you reach its base, the forest that surrounds it prevents it.
So we used the GPS and a digital map not to get lost. We started in a ruinous farmhouse next to a walnut tree. When we reach the base of the mountain, the slope is hard of noses and has a very loose ground. Sometimes the path is not clear but the trees accompany us to the top, where the views are incredible.
We arrived drenched in sweat. When we get off, we are lucky and we only skid on the rocks several times without falling." — franciscobirruezo • Jun 10, 2018
