"My second go around for visiting Winston Ridge. This time around, it was more peaceful, since it wasn't hunting season. I started out by going up Winston Peak, then descending its steep north slope. The recent fire damage cleared out much of the underbrush, so to reach the summit of Peak 6903, I just hiked up its brush free south facing slope. I continued on to Winston Ridge before wrapping it up with a visit to Peak 6850. Actually, Peak 6850 was the true focus of hike for me, because it was the only peak in the chain that I did not visit previously." — MikeTeeples • Apr 24, 2022
"Finally! after the nonsense of 2020, I finally was able to get back on the area hiking trails (only having been opened up a few weeks ago). Rainy and foggy coming up from LA, but above the fog layer, sunny, but pretty windy. So good hike hitting the 4 peaks and (re)building the leg strength after a lengthy hiatus." — marc • Jun 28, 2020
"My plan today was to hit up Winston Peak and Winston Ridge. I hiked up the front side of Winston Peak (7,502') from Cloudburst Summit and down Winston Peak's very steep backside to the saddle. I could have gone left or right around Peak 6,903' to access the ridge to Winston Ridge's summit. I decided to challenge myself and hike up to and over 6903 cross-country and then access Winston Ridge from 6903. I summitted 6903' off trail up a steep climb and then went down its back side and proceeded to summit Winston Ridge. I went back to my car around the east slopes of 6903 and Winston Peak to a dirt road to Cloudburst. The round trip to and from 6903 is roughly 3 mi with about 900' gain. With Winston Peak, 6903 and Winston Ridge, the round trip is about 4.25 miles with about 1100' gain. The scenery is absolutely epic in the area in this more remote area of the San Gabriels. Stats below include only Winston Peak and 6903." — brianpowell • May 27, 2018
"Following the fun descent from Winston Peak, the use trail briefly kissed the Pacific Crest Trail. Near this point, another use trail branched off to the left. I took this use trail around the west flank of peak 6903. I could have continued to the saddle of Peak 6903 and Winston Ridge for an easy ascent to the summit. However, since I didn't know that, I impatiently decided to free climb a steep slope along the way, since the top was so tantalizingly close. It wasn't a bad decision, as it turned out. Meanwhile, from the top, I had great views of Winston Peak and Winston Ridge. Next stop on the 3 peak hike, Winston Ridge." — MikeTeeples • Oct 14, 2017
