"With Robin and Geraldine Howie. After visiting Lofoten Islands we went by bus to Kaljord, including the Fiskebøl-Melbu ferry. We left Kaljord about 14:40 initially following a motorable track, but soon a narrow footpath along Lonkanfjorden. The path is waymarked with blue paint marks but is not always obvious. It seemed little used and was very wet, both underfoot and because of tall wet grass. Flies were a considerable nuisance. We reached the vicinity of Nordbtn and joined an old tramway used by miners. This made progress much easier. No doubt swollen by recent rain the main stream in Norddalen was very full. The path crossed the stream several times with several missing bridges. The miners’ tramway came to an end and with it the blue waymarks. Thereafter the path is marked by cairns and red waymarks from time to time. The path climbs steeply up to Memuruskaret (pass) at 519m. The route then goes northwards crossing snowfields from time to time on the slopes of Memurutind. It crosses the valley coming from the lake of Øvre Møysalv. We reached the Møysalen glacier and followed a very faint track along the side.
