"Alda and I climbed quickly 2 summits of Ernest Ross. It was farily short, and enjoyable. The second summit presents more interesting scrambling. From the summit we realized that we should have enough time to traverse to "Bridge Peak". We returned the same way, and reached the car in the darkness. It is worth while to continue to Bridge Peak, so leave early if you plan to do this." — martawojnarowska • Sep 9, 2020
"It was a rainy drive. Started up and got going and slowly got into it. There was not a lot of snow left on the ridge, but the section between the two peaks had quite a bit of snow as well as some exposed ice, so we skipped going to the second summit." — BertB • May 25, 2019
"Mark, Bert and I left Calgary at 4:30 A.M. and drove to the DTC. The lower part of the trail was mostly dry other than the bit of moisture from the previous rain. It was an overcast day. Most of the ascent was a rugged hike up the ridge with some decent views despite the cloudy weather. Some placid bighorn ewes that weren't bothered by us nor aggressive were hanging out in one of the meadows by the cliffs. We found some wet snow higher up which made for slower going at the crux and on the rock scrambling. Summit views were good! We came down a more gentle meadowy slope on the return, which brought us further up the creek bed and was easier on the old knees. There was flagging for it." — leigh-annewebster • May 25, 2019
"Very enjoyable scramble. A hike on good trail until 50m from East Peak. Short easier moderate scrambling leads to East Peak.
Many people describe West Peak as a difficult scramble. With snow and ice, I went slightly further west and went up via a chimney/narrow gully. It is probably easier moderate scramble when dry, but the ice made it a bit tricky. I used handholds on both sides of the chimney to lift myself up and then down.
Great scenery from the top. Ernest Ross would be more popular than Yamnuska or Heart Mountain if it were close to Calgary. I'll be back in the summer for the traverse towards Two O'clock Ridge via a few unnamed summits." — Taras • Nov 20, 2016
"Starting at 02:00, I completed a solo night ascent of Mount Ernest Ross just in time to watch the 05:00 sunrise from the summit. Conditions were a little chilly while resting, but otherwise quite pleasant." — Steven-Noel • May 30, 2015
"On the 18th of October, 2014, Steven Noël of Edmonton AB and Michal Gregarek of Olomouc, Czech Republic summited both the primary and true summit of Mount Ernest Ross. Hindered by illness, team member Teslene Walters was forced to stop approximately 100 vertical meters short of the summit. Strong winds and blowing snow were factors, as was ice, snow, and frozen scree on the north face of the true summit." — Steven-Noel • Oct 18, 2014
