"Bagged Mitchell and Craig via Mount Mitchell Trail.
The trail isn’t technically difficult, but it’s surprisingly steep, and the profusion of roots and rocks prompted me to buy trekking poles for future hikes.
Summiting a Mitchell is odd. After nearly 6 miles of hiking in serene wilderness, you arrive at the busy path that connects to the parking lot most people drive to.
After taking in that crowded summit I made my way across the ridge to the vacant top of Mount Craig." — tylerdelia • Oct 21, 2021

"Started from parking lot , Deep Gap Trail. Trail muddy beyond words but still doable. Not normal, but alot of rain in this area the past few days. Great views . 1st of 3 peaks on the ridge for today. " — puddlepirate • Sep 3, 2020

"After I came down from Mt. Mitchell, I went to the Deep Gap Trailhead at the other end of the pkg. lot and hiked up to Mt. Craig, then on to Big Tom, only 10 min. further. There were some tricky scrambles among the rocks leading to this mountain. Most of the views were off to the left (west)." — SteveM_StickMan • Jun 26, 2020

"Reached the top of Mt. Craig on a cloudy and hazy afternoon....Tracey and I captured lots of great
video on our GoPro along the way. If your an avid climber a must to record your journey.
Great day in western North Carolina and 2nd highest peak east of the Mississippi River.
