"After a 10 mile jaunt up Mt. Rogers, drove up the road to the tower-filled summit to grab this 2nd highest peak in VA, it also being another county high point. I agree with some others that the actual high point is on the east side of the fenced in tower area. Totally in the clouds on this day. Quite a few people were up here enjoying the "views" as well." — SteveM_StickMan • Sep 4, 2022
"Part of a 12-mile day with 3,000+ feet of climbing. Whitetop is a serious climb of 2,500+ feet from Hwy 58. We had warm temps and stunning views of the surrounding mountains down into Carolina. Walked along the highest road in Virginia and quite possibly the greatest vistas as well (minus the towers of course). " — runshigleyrun • Feb 20, 2022
"Drove to the parking area and climbed the short distance to the summit. Benchmark is behind a fenced area that protects telephone and satellite equipment, surrounded by Red Spruce forest. Hiked down to Buzzard's Rock via the AT and about .5 miles beyond as well as the short Lover's Leap Trail. Beautiful day, clear sunny skies with great vies." — jaycochran • Jul 7, 2017
"Extremely windy, sunny day. Just recovered from pneumonia, but the views of the Highlands were absolutely worth it. Brilliant panorama of the mountains of North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Second highest peak in my home state. Buzzard Rock is along the way. A great little scramble, but nearly blown off due to strong gusts." — runshigleyrun • Dec 22, 2016
