"I hiked with my brothers Josh and Patrick. We took Josh's 4 Runner to the usual starting point, which is west-northwest of the peak, where another road intersects from the west. The road wasn't too bad, but still probably requires high clearance. The terrain was beautiful, and for the first 1.75 miles or so very easy. Then things get steeper, and it was during our boulder hopping up the wash that somehow I lost my balance and went down on my side. I smacked my right cheek, ribs, ring finger, and pelvis on a giant rock. I also had one of my cameras in hand, and the impact broke the battery pack off. The impact on my ribs actually broke the backpack buckle on the right side, which indicates how hard I hit. I found out 3.5 weeks later that I broke a rib.
Anyway, after assessing the damage I had done to myself, we decided to continue on. I wore my backpack like a satchel, and kept my hands free. I was more cautious than I have ever been before, but aside from some pain I was feeling alright. We made our way out of the canyon, bypassing the pour offs, and up to the ridge to the south.
