"The trails up to the mountain were in good condition (much better than the worn down road up to them!). It was a nice day out on the summit, with views for all 360º. Some storm clouds out in the distance provided a neat backdrop as well." — HikeLikeMike • May 29, 2016

"NoBo AT Thru Hike 2016.
Spoke to Kim while she was on the summit of Max Patch in the early afternoon today. She plans on stopping in Hot Spring, NC either tomorrow or Saturday depending on how bad the weather gets, looks like some rain/snow headed that direction in the next day or two. " — Kim-Stilson • Apr 7, 2016

"Finally made it to this beautiful mountain with a group of friends. Sweeping views in every direction on an open bald. Most balds in the region have returned to their natural state. This is one of the grassy balds where you can enjoy vistas and a fairly easy climb to the top. A short path leads to the top as you can drive most of the way up to the mountain. We parked officially in TN and a few steps later were in NC. Lots of other possible hikes can be done from here or to this spot." — grsmguy • May 15, 2015
