"Friday 30th March 2018. An ascent of Condolden 308m/50m, near Tintagel, from Trenhale. 6.9km, with 190m of ascent. 1hr 45mins.
With my week in Cornwall drawing to a close, I made time on my homeward journey to climb one more hill before leaving the county. Condolden lies three kilometres south-east of the village of Tintagel on the north coast of Cornwall. Tintagel is known for its connections with the legendary King Arthur and makes much of the connection to draw in the tourists. Condolden was the final natural hill over 300m altitude, of the twenty-four in the county, which I had yet to climb.
Parking was difficult on the narrow lane west of the summit, but eventually I found a safe spot at a crossroads close to the hamlet of Trenhale. I walked south to this place, then south-east up to Kingswaey Farm. Near the farm I was challenged by two dogs, but their barking ceased after a few friendly words and I carried on without harm. Above the farm the lane continued as a concrete track for some way. Beyond the right-of-way proceded, without trace on the ground, through boggy sheep pasture up to a stile.
