"Setting out north from Postbridge along the eastern bank of the East Dart River, firstly in search of the William Donaghy Memorial stone, with the intention of crossing at the East Dart Waterfall further up river and return along the western bank. My plans changed however due to river being in spate and the waterfall, plus about a km further upstream past Sandy Hole being completely uncrossable. Fast flowing and unusually deep dark water made me realise I was going to return via the same way I came. So after a spot of sheltered lunch between some rocks it was back into the wind to retrace my steps, this time taking the ridge path back rather than the river path. 13.6km. Very windy. Solo. "Starting out from Postbridge and following the path up the east side of the East Dart River taking in Hartland Tor first with several newly born calf laying around and then following the bridleway all the way to the Grey Wethers stone circles before lunching on Sittaford Tor. Then tackling White Ridge and Assycombe Hill before returning via Merripit Hill and the road back to Postbridge. 15.8km. Sunny. Solo. " — MuchMoorWalking • May 14, 2022
