"We tried to summit Corburn on Oct 17th after hiking Number 5, but we ran out of daylight and had to head back to the truck. So not letting a mountain get the better of us, back we went the next week. It was a crisp cold day, a great day for a hike,(but then again aren't they all). The summit of the mountain was covered in what the locals call "whore frost". It's this frost that has defeated many fire towers in Maine. We took the tote road to the midway point and then up the hiking trail, on the way down we took the snowmobile trail to the midway point and then came down an old ski trail. Another great hike.
