Climb the 12 peaks of the Belknap Range in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The 8-mile long Belknap Range is of modest elevation and lies to the west of Lake Winnipesaukee in the towns of Gilford, Gilmanton, and Alton. All 12 peaks have trails to the summit and can be completed as day hikes. A great first peak challenge for up-and-coming mountain enthusiasts. "Best hike of the year so far. Started at East Gilford Trailhead, up Gilford Fire Road to Round Pond. Then onto Klem and then Mack. I saw no fewer than 40 Lady Slippers around the pond. Fantastic views here and on top of Klem. " — emeryswanson • May 28, 2026

"Did the Reed Road (Blue Trail) to White marked trail to Quarry Mountain West Peak and Mt Rand. Glad I had my poles on the trail to Mt Rand. A bit rocky, but a fun trail. Great weather. Buggy though so glad I had my spray. only found a couple of ticks." — emeryswanson • May 18, 2026

"Great day for a hike. A bit cool in the morning so it was perfect. I followed the well-marked orange Gunstock Mountain Trail from Carriage Rd in Gilford. Got there early because parking is limited as I have seen in the past. But it was a quiet day and I was the 2nd car in the road pull-off.
Great views of the mountains from the deck at the top of Gunstock at Panorama Pub. (unfortunately closed in the off-season. lol). " — emeryswanson • May 11, 2026
