Climb the 12 peaks of the Belknap Range in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The 8-mile long Belknap Range is of modest elevation and lies to the west of Lake Winnipesaukee in the towns of Gilford, Gilmanton, and Alton. All 12 peaks have trails to the summit and can be completed as day hikes. A great first peak challenge for up-and-coming mountain enthusiasts. "This hike completes the Belknap 12 for me. Cool with slight breezes over 1500'. Encountered just a few other hikers out today. After summiting I stayed on the Ridge Tr. past Marge's Tr. until reaching the 1980' level, where I heard and saw a Pileated Woodpecker flying around the trees as I approached! Unfortunately it wouldn't let me get close enough for a picture. Since I had already done the remaining part of the trail to Gunstock, I ducked over to the nearby ski trail for the awesome views of Lake Winni and the Ossipees. Also picked up the North Spur and the BRT "bypass" on the way back for redlining. The sun broke through occasionally keeping the temps from getting too chilling. Now to concentrate on finishing redlining the rest of the trails!" — SteveM_StickMan • Nov 14, 2025
"No. Piper summit only, which is a pretty cool spot with the stone benches/chairs. Ran out of time to get to the main summit of Piper (So. Peak) since the gate was due to close." — SteveM_StickMan • Aug 3, 2025
"Meetup group hike taking the other half of the Precipice Path I hadn't done yet. Our small group was the only ones out in this area of the Belknaps. Crazy scramble up the waterfall section! It was a terrific breezy day with the relentless black flies!" — SteveM_StickMan • May 12, 2025
"It's been a while since I did one of the 12. Bluebird day even though I didn't start until after 3. Continued on to the main summit for the views in the different directions from the north facing outlook. No summit sign or USGS marker present." — SteveM_StickMan • Apr 10, 2025
"Another redline day.. this time was a success. Finished Blueberry Pasture, Jesus Valley and went down the East side of Precipice Path, which was really tricky with all the leaves covering up the acorns! Recent fresh blazes on Precipice kept me on track for the most part (purple is hard to see when the sun is setting though). The summits were windy but great for the views on this lightly cloudy day." — SteveM_StickMan • Nov 18, 2024
