"Starting from Playa la Palmeras in San Juan de los Terreros, I set out early for my second attempt at climbing Cerrón Cogón after yesterday's failed try. To warm up, I first tackled the 68-meter peak at La Moleta, making my way through sticky green maquis and over rocky terrain. The climb was short but steep, and at the top, I was rewarded with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea stretching out endlessly. From there, I headed west toward Cerrón Cogón, determined to succeed this time. Approaching from the north side, I found myself once again navigating dense maquis and sandstone, the ground shifting underfoot as I climbed. Along the way, enormous sandstone formations stood tall, likely shaped by years of erosion from the strong sea winds. Reaching the plateau at the peak, I was met with another stunning view of the sea, making the effort well worth it. For the descent, I moved westward toward a 56-meter saddle, then turned east through the valley to return to my starting point at Playa la Palmeras. The climb was challenging but rewarding, and this time, I could finally say I had conquered Cerrón Cogón." — belgianIbex • May 20, 2025
