"Solo. From car parking area at NO147800. Up path towards Carn an Tuirc. Near the burn junction at NO158803 I struck up hillside over short heather, grass and moss to reach summit of Carn Dubh. The cairn on the summit and the knoll SW do appear to be of similar height, as reported in the Database of British and Irish Hills on-line version. From Carn Dubh I descended SE on track that comes over the summit area. I used a path of sorts which continues up to the summit plateau of Carn an Tuirc. The summit cairn of Carn an Tuirc is clearly not the highest point as confirmed by the surveying reported in the Database of British and Irish Hills. From Carn an Tuirc I went down to col with Cairn of Claise and went up to summit of Cairn of Claise. There is a finely constructed cairn on summit of Cairn of Claise. From the summit of Cairn of Claise I followed a path alongside a wall to its end, continuing to join the Monega Pass path. I deviated from it to take in Sròn na Gaoithe. This is a rather shapely peak in spite of its modest drop. Then down to the road and car." — peter43 • Oct 14, 2015
"During a short break based at Braemar, we revisited some of the Munros we had climbed many years ago. Setting off from the roadside at A93, we walked alongside a stream, past the ruins of old crofts, to the foot of Carn an Turic, 1019m then up steeply through heather and boulders to the summit cairn of Carn an Turic. From the summit, we dropped E then SE to a broad col, then up onto the summit of Cairn of Claise 1064m. This peak is hidden behind other peaks, so distant views/photos of the full mountain are difficult. Here, despite the threat of bad weather, we dropped down SW to the next watershed at the Monega Road, the highest cattle drove route in the Scottish Highlands and then up to the summit of Glas Maol 1068m. From here we returned to our start point by heading back to the watershed, then heading NW on a long ridge to the summit of Sron na Gaothe 814m. On this ridge, we had good views of a herd of red deer crossing snow fields on the slopes of the nearby Cairn of Claise. We then descended steeply back to our start point. " — davidlong • Jun 1, 2013
"With Geraldine Guest and Robin Howie. We parked at NO148800. We went up the Monega Pass track (indistinct lower down) and then to Cairn of Claise and Druim Mor. Misty most of the walk, damp and drizzly.

"With my children, Katherine and Jonathan. From the A93 road at NO145807 to the summits of Carn an Tuirc, Cairn of Claise, Glas Maol, and Meall Odhar. Snow patches and high winds with hail on Glas Maol. Slight mist on Cairn of Claise. White mountain hares were seen on Carn an Tuirc and Glas Maol." — peter43 • Jan 2, 1981
