"My last peak climb on my Arizona trip. I took the trail to the orange hoodoos in the volcano. Since the Peak was the true target, I had to figure out a way up. I backed out of the volcanic core and went cross-country up the west slope. This was slow going until leveling out and reaching the summit. More adventure awaited on the return. I wanted to turn it into a loop by going down the east slope. I completed the loop but went in a more southeastern direction forming a wide arc into no mans land. This was a longer loop than necessary and I was excited and almost out of water when I found my way back to the parking area." — MikeTeeples • Jul 27, 2019
"Ting-Ru, Yung-Han, and I were disappointed that Humphrey's Peak was closed because of the fire danger, but the recommendation of red mountain was great. We hiked up inside the volcano, explored the little slot canyon, and then scrambled up the cinder cone to the summit. All in all a 5 hour adventure with many nice views. " — jak5280 • Jun 17, 2018
"Very enjoyable hike heading back towards Flag. Hiked cross country up the northeast slopes, then dropped down the southeastern side. Odd sandstone hoodoos in the middle of a cinder cone crater, a geologic enigma. Complete TR: http://www.themtsarecalling.com/red" — Christopher • Oct 8, 2017
