"Last day of hiking before the Hoover Dam. We had minimal breakfast in our hotel room in the Maswik this morning. PBJ's were made with butt-break and remnant snacks. The views were amazing heading down into the canyon from the south rim (South Kaibab Trail). We pushed down into toward Skeleton Point but Beth started to bonk from lack of propper snackage and food. We stopped just 200 yards from Skeleton Point and headed back up - didn't want to kill anyone on the last day of hiking. We ended up with about 6-7 miles and 2k feet in elevation. Stopped up on Mather Point on the way back through and hit up the gift shops again." — wiweasel • Nov 27, 2022
"Finishing up the epic Rim Walk weekend. We started from the Visitor's Center, were we left off yesterday, and then walked along the rest of the Rim Trail to the South Kaibab Trailhead. We were then going to take the Shoshone Trail to Shoshone Point/Overlook, but it was torn up by mule hooves in the snow and was just a mess. We decided instead to then just walk the road to Yaki Point and nab our last of the rim overlook points - and we can honestly say that we walked the whole thing ourselves. So very, very awesome! Today the snow was pristine and beautiful, the views were incredible. The wind wasn't as bad as yesterday, and we didn't have any additional storms blow over us. Just a great walk on the Rim Trail, and the the final portion was on the shoulder of the road. Not as scenic, but we made it! Took the bus back from Yaki Point to the Visitor's Center before departing. What an awesome trip!" — psychikingjes • Mar 6, 2022
"The original plan was to hike from Bright Angel TH to Yaki Point, then descend down South Kaibab to Phantom Ranch & back up Bright Angel. The weather started to turn and we didn't really sleep the night before, so we changed the plan. We hiked from Bright Angel to Yaki Point along the Rim Trail, hitting the overlooks along the way. After that, we took the tram back to near Mather Point and followed the Rim Trail the other way all the way to Hermit's Rest, hitting all of the overlooks along the way there. We ended up with nearly 20 miles on the day. We endured rain and some light hail along the way, but were treated to some fantastic views. Rim Trail is a new favorite!" — Kevin • Nov 7, 2020
"I began my hike around 3pm and finished around 7pm as it was getting dark. Yaki and Mather were walk up easy ones, O'Neill Butte was much more difficult relatively speaking. I descended the canyon on South Kaibab trail for O'Neill. " — mchikes • Oct 19, 2020
"I traveled here to try my 1st solo R2R2R but fear overwhelmed me and I ended up only running about 18.5 miles along the rim instead. I wept in defeat on the drive home. I eventually did R2R2R on 9.17.2019 in 17:55 hrs w/Karla Kent. " — paula.raimondi • Jan 13, 2018
"10.24.2015. 1st Rim to Rim~w/Colleen. She guided me thru. I was fearful but it was spectacular. 21 miles, 5,500’ gain, 8:17 hrs total. Jimmy and the kids picked me up at the north rim and Colleen continued for R2R2R. " — paula.raimondi • Oct 24, 2015
"Almost did rim to rim to rim in 4 days. Hiked down the Kiabab to Cottonwood Camp. There was a rockslide on the North rim which closed down the North Kiabab trail, so we day hike up the north Kiabab from Cottonwood Camp. Ended up hiking in over a foot of snow. Turned back due to the snow coming down very hard. Hiked to Bright Angel camp on the 3rd day. Hiked back up the Kiabab on the fourth. " — MtnGeek • Mar 15, 1991
