"Armstrong - Bolton - Aldridge traverse, bike+scramble
42.8km with 2,923m gain in 13:45hrs (on foot 23.5km with 2,400m in 10:40hrs)
The initial plan was to do Cornwell to Baril after Bolton, but it didn't look it was possible to scramble up Cornwell from the pass. The pass itself was rather busy with campers.
Armstrong: should've listened to my gut feeling and do a short-cut on SW slopes directly to the main summit. While it does look intimidating from the bottom, from the top it's a mid angled. And no need to down climb or walk on that ridge twice.
Aldridge: 600m steep slog to the North Peak, then pleasant ridge walk with some easy to moderate scramble. Definitely a rarely visited summit; was wondering if it was even sumitted in 13 years between 2004-17, at least no any trace of that.
Return the same way (say "hello" to your knees) or, if you have more time, via Courcelette Peak (difficult scramble as per reports)." — alexp • Jul 26, 2020
"As part of training for Mt Orizaba in the Fall, all I remember is we drove south from Highwood Junction not far, we took bikes, and biked 5km? up a trail or horse trail which included some fenced off horse areas? and then crested a mound and a peak was in the west and I went for it up a gravelly road? but didn't summit due to friends waiting." — alexjoseph • Jul 27, 2002
