"Lipalian Mountain + Purple Mound, March 5 2022. Went up these summits near LL ski resort today, unsure of the new avalanche problem so we avoided steep solar slopes until we learn a bit more about it. A fine day to be up high, mostly bluebird, warm enough without being hot, wind was reasonable, saw no blowing snow anywhere. Found no signs of instabilities where we traveled. Snow quality was good to great, although my ski line was sharky AF, almost caused a forest fire with all the sparks. Lots of photos inside of objectives near and far away, have a look." — jakefinnan • Mar 5, 2022
"I hiked a good road to Lake Louise ski lift. Hiked one of the ski runs up. Didn't not run into any grizzlies, although they are frequent visitors here. From the top of the run scrambled to Lipalian Mountain. Purple Peak was a nice hike. Traverse to Unity Peak was interesting with large boulders and route finding. Do not underestimate the descend from Unity Peak. There is a serious rockband to get through. I took one of the gullies down and had some interesting scramble for the last 3 or some meters." — martawojnarowska • Sep 27, 2020
"Broke a climbing skin and so ended up boot packing and decided to take a shot at Purple Knob from the East. Snow was a little unconsolidated for the final 100m and we turned around and skiied down from lower down the ridge." — alexjoseph • Feb 17, 2020
"Wicked backcountry day on opening weekend at Lake Louise. No one on the backside and minimal snow down low. But we skied from the parking lot and up Wolverine Ridge where the powder was calf deep with supportive base and a bit of cracking. Did a lap and then up to Purple Peak and across to Lipalian and then skins off and down the north bowl and out Larch Run on the powder on the side and then out the road which was snow packed by the sleds right to the car (6km 1000m run). Wicked end to a Remembrance Day long weekend with Bryon, Lisa, Kate, Marco, Billy, and Mike." — alexjoseph • Nov 12, 2018
