"Jenna and I followed Vern's track from the valley floor up the cut line. We saw a family that had driven up in their truck before lunch and then after lunch we saw a convoy of a Filipino off-roaders, which we ended up passing on the Forestry Trunk Road on our way back to Bearberry. I had anticipated it being windy and it was indeed! It's hard on the hands when you have to take them out to do things, but I didn't get screaming barfies at least. All in all a good day. Exactly 5 hours round trip including lunch and layering/ delayering." — leigh-annewebster • Oct 29, 2022
"The crux of this trip was last 5km of driving on the unplowed access road. My Rav4 made it without problem but it fishtailed a lot in the snow. We stopped 2km before the TH at a gate. Apparently, the road beyond the gate is seasonally closed in the winter and early spring. For the above-mentioned reasons, I don't recommend attempting this peak early in the season.
We walked the road 2km after the gate to the cutline and then followed it to the summit ridge. The snow was mostly ankle deep but in some places knee deep. We didn't bring snowshoes and I found the trailbreaking quite tiresome. Was very tired next day." — Taras • Apr 2, 2021
"12.9km with 840m gain in 6:40hrs return.
Family winter hike, very shallow or no snow at all. Lil one was quite slow though (guess he wanted to return after sunset and try out his new headlamp)" — alexp • Dec 16, 2018
"We were fortunate enough to drive all the way up to the summer trailhead. From there is was an easy but cold hike over to the lookout. It was clouded over, somewhat foggy, with some blowing snow." — BertB • Apr 6, 2015

Well this was definitely not a trip for the faint of heart. I imagine it is not difficult going in the summer but with a fresh dump of 30cm of snow it was difficult. At points the snow was waist deep. And it never let up till the very summit everything from road to summit was knne high to waist deep thick snow. Avalanche warnings were high and we were fortunate not to have had to turn back. 2 others died this same weekend in an avalanch very close to where we were. At the top it is a true scramble, It is all rock faces that require basically free climbing. There is also one moderate step on a ledge with large drops on either side. But we reached the summit and had a wonderful outing :)
