"Long day, a couple down climbs that were not terrible to scramble. No water sources for almost all the trip, bring plenty of water, and a helmet if with a group. Lots of falling rock in several places." — bradenh • Jul 16, 2022
"Opted to leave the snowshoes in the car. And it paid off. We visited the falls and proceeded to get to work. We walked across the grassfields, bushwhacked up through the trees. We encountered lingering snow patches in the trees. Up high the summit had some snow but it was not enough for us to break out microspikes. Descended a slightly different route, ending on a horse trail which we followed back to Eagle Lake Parking." — BertB • May 16, 2020
"Enjoyed a day in the mountains after months of waiting. The last time I had been out other than up Prairie or Ha Ling was at Ya Ha Tinda, so I picked this as a season-opener for the scrambling season. It was mostly a bunch of slogging uphill with a sketchy ridge. Views were great and I was happy to be back! Not sure when I'll get out next, but glad I had an amazing day out in the mountains. "A part of Eagle Mountain - Poplar Peak Traverse (some people call it "Rum Ridge"). There is a lot of ups and downs but it's probably a better loop than more popularized Evangeline Peak - Poplar Peak and more technically easy.
The traverse was largely snow free. I pulled out an axe near the false summit of Poplar Peak for extra safety and to probe for cornices. Immediately after the summit, we bypassed the "dragon's spine" and pinnacles on climber's left (nasty rubble) since they were partially covered with snow. The snow did not pose any further problems.
We descended the Ridge in SE direction (almost no bushwhacking) and picked up a prominent equestrian trail that brought us back to Eagle Lake Trail.
Please note my GPS didn't record last 3-4 km. " — Taras • Apr 28, 2018
