"Beautiful crisp fall day out in Lovell Canyon to bag a couple peaks with my honey and Daisy the dog. Gorgeous views from First Creek Overlook of Red Rock NCA to the east and Pahrump Valley to the west. " — maggielynn • Dec 11, 2023
"I really wanted to scout the route for the two western lumps. In short, if you want to do just those two peaks, take the magenta route on my "photo" map, do not follow my track." — hwstock • Oct 21, 2023
"Roasting pit and first creek overlook were decent enough . So was the traverse over to oak creek overlook . Everything else after that was horrible. Tons of thick brush , super loose and steep. Coming down oak creek overlook was the worst. I replaced the register on peak 4 as it had pretty bad water damage. I copied the names over . Had a ziploc for it too so hopefully this one lasts a bit longer . " — joshortman • Jun 7, 2023
"10.6.18. 18.5 mile, 4,800’ vert gain, Point to Point, Rainbow Wilderness Escarpment, Limestone Crest Tour. Mountain Springs to Willow Springs, Red Rock.
Today I experienced one of the best adventures of my life. I’m so proud of myself and grateful I have a strong body that allows me to experience such things. I can’t even believe I live in such a beautiful place. Thank you Chris for the invite. I started alone in the dark an hour and 11 min before Chris and his Friends so I didn’t feel the pressure of a fast pace.
The sunrise made me weep. The route was rough, rugged, scenic and fun with the navigational challenges that I love. I Bagged at least 4 peaks along the way too. 10.5 miles after I started they caught up with me and I did the rest of the miles with the group.
Thank you Chris and Harlan for all the info on how to follow the ridge without getting lost.
I’m sad it’s over." — paula.raimondi • Oct 6, 2018
"Harlan Stockman was nice enough to lead me on a hike today so I could get up to 100 new Peaks on my Summit list. It was a very tiring 10 mile, 4,200’ eg route from Lovell Canyon through rugged rocky washes, loose scree hills and carnivorous limestone ridges with scratchy brush and dead trees battering our bodies along the way. We bagged 1st Creek Overlook then went on to Mighty Wilson Peak, the highest Sandstone Peak in Red Rock, and to our surprise we ran into Mighty Barb Speckert on top! Bonus! We then battled back up to the ridge where at one point I was so entangled in some wicked shrubs I thought I’d never break free. With a quick break at the ridge we went on to Limestone Highpoint. I didn’t want to. I was on the ropes but I wanted that 100th Peak so I decided to deal with the suffering. This area felt remote to me so the whole way I had anxious thoughts.
I also earned the Ginsu Knife Club Cleaver! My 31 mile long run tomorrow is going to hurt." — paula.raimondi • Jan 5, 2018
