"9.16.23~ A Toasty 🔥 3 Peaks Combo Meal Well Done. Mtn Springs, Windy & Hollow Rock in that Order. This solo Started at 12:15pm~10 miles, 2,341’ gain in 4:28hrs. I didn’t fuss this time on Hollow Rock…went right up and down when I arrived. I haven’t done much endurance, just gym stuff, so I was happy I moved well all day and felt strong. Was nice to roam around. " — paula.raimondi • Sep 16, 2023
"Pretty fun route ! Right after the crack there is a little section which I thought was the hardest . Nothing really too difficult though. Solid class 3. Sandstone section was a lot of fun. A nice trail led all the way to that sandstone too which was pleasant . Windy peak would be super easy to add to this but I ran out of daylight as I didn’t start this until like 2. Word on the street is there was two registers on black velvet one at each summit I only found the one on the lower peak" — joshortman • Nov 27, 2022
"10.6.18. 18.5 mile, 4,800’ vert gain, Point to Point, Rainbow Wilderness Escarpment, Limestone Crest Tour. Mountain Springs to Willow Springs, Red Rock.
Today I experienced one of the best adventures of my life. I’m so proud of myself and grateful I have a strong body that allows me to experience such things. I can’t even believe I live in such a beautiful place. Thank you Chris for the invite. I started alone in the dark an hour and 11 min before Chris and his Friends so I didn’t feel the pressure of a fast pace.
The sunrise made me weep. The route was rough, rugged, scenic and fun with the navigational challenges that I love. I Bagged at least 4 peaks along the way too. 10.5 miles after I started they caught up with me and I did the rest of the miles with the group.
Thank you Chris and Harlan for all the info on how to follow the ridge without getting lost.
I’m sad it’s over." — paula.raimondi • Oct 6, 2018
"Short morning hike with Overweight Hikers meetup. Getting back into hiking and wanted something to help transition myself to the higher altitudes of the Spring Mountains for the summer. This spot has fantastic 360 views and it was a clear day. None of us managed to locate the summit register, btw." — cardsfanlv • May 28, 2016
"Harlan led Jim and I up to Black Velvet peak and false peak from Mtn Springs. It was the Most amazing route and it gave me great confidence for my quest to climb Bridge Mtn. The exposure and views were creepy and spectacular. It was the Most technical and exposed route to a peak I've done so far. He used safety ropes in a couple of spots and storms were threatening but never became an issue. Amazing Day. " — paula.raimondi • May 26, 2016
"Another solo success. I parked at Mt Springs pass and hiked to Mt Springs peak and then on to Hidden Peak and looked down on Little Zion for the 1st time but didn't have time to descend & explore it. It was really windy and cold on the limestone ridge route but the area I hiked to summit of Hidden peak wasn't. Killer strenuous route of 8.5 miles & 2,500' gain. " — paula.raimondi • May 3, 2016
"Beautiful morning on an fairly easy trail to a summit with an outstanding view. This one seems to be overlooked by many local hikers, or as just a stop on the way to something else - but its the most prominent point in the immediate area. Was a hazy morning over Las Vegas, want to go back on a clear day. I went solo and was the only person around. The solitude and scenery was just what I needed. " — cardsfanlv • May 24, 2014
"Started before sunrise from Mountain Springs. Didn't run up, but made good time on the way up. From here, we traversed to Black Velvet Peak. Due to a lack of sleep, the way back was much slower, until the energy chews kicked in." — Kevin • Sep 15, 2013
"Hiked up to Windy Peak from Mountain Springs Trailhead, then traversed over to Black Velvet Peak, then back up the ridge to Mountain Springs Peak, before finally following the limestone ridge back down. Over 9 miles & almost 3,800 ft of elevation gain." — Kevin • Mar 9, 2012
