"Always a good day when you tag 5 peaks in a shorter scramble. The attached track has a couple of erroneous pings that will look pretty obvious if you were following it. And, after Peak 4608 we went to another highpoint that is not a listed peak. So, you would just continue down the long slot/gully to the south instead of veering off to this highpoint. To save the walk across the bottom of the Calico area we set up a shuttle. " — Heartattackbruce • Jan 31, 2024
"9.19.2022~short scramble. Ran into Alex Honnold! Neat! I didn’t bother him too much. Just told him he was inspiring and kept walking as he was about to climb a Boulder while being filmed. " — paula.raimondi • Sep 19, 2022
"We dropped one vehicle off in Sandstone Quarry parking lot. Then we drove the second vehicle and parked it at the Red Springs parking lot. We scrambled up in Calico and hit the peaks in the following order : 1) Calico Hills South, 2) Calico Hills I Peak, 3) Red Book Peak, 4) Calico Hills II Overlook, 5) Calico Hills II Peak, 6) Calico Tanks Peak, and 7) Turtlehead Jr. We eixited via Sandstone Quarry to our vehicle in the Sandstone Quarry parking lot, drove back to Red Spings parking lot, and picked up the second vehicle. "11.17.2020~Calico Hills 6 peak Ridge Traverse loop South to North. 7.2 miles, 2,700’ gain, 4:49hrs. Epic accomplishment on this difficult route that not many can do unless they are led. Complicated route finding and tons of relentless scrambling and class 3 climbing. Not sure many women (if any) have done this solo. Took 3 days of recon to figure out the 1st section and I still got a bit hung up today. Super proud of myself. 4:49hrs. Got to the last peak in 3:39 hrs. Very hot on the sandstone today. I sweat a lot. I consumed 2 liters of fluid, 2 slices of cauliflower crust pizza and one piece of healthy cake. Weather person promised clouds and breezes but they never materialized. Peaks included~Calico hills South, Calico Hills 1, Red Book, Calico Tanks East and West and Red Cap (aka Turtlehead Jr.) " — paula.raimondi • Nov 17, 2020
"Calico Hills South (North/South) Traverse and Calico Hills South Peak (x2) Solo. 6 miles, 2,300’ gain. I’ve Been working on this puzzle for 3 fricken days! Solving it meant retreating half way through, after I couldn’t figure out the route (going south to north).....I dropped ALL the way back down (sad face) and went up to Guardian Angel pass and went in the opposite direction (North to South) to figure it out. Long day. So satisfying. Did Calico Hills South peak twice in the process. This is the hardest section of ridge traverse in Calico Basin. It’s a confusing route finding matrix with and a lot of class 3 climbs and exposure. I was guided on it a few years back but I don’t have a clear memory of the route since I was terrified the whole time. Now I can go back and hammer it. It’s now my playground. It’s always Summertime on the warm Aztec sandstone. Fabulous day of scrambling. " — paula.raimondi • Nov 15, 2020

"11.1.2020. 1.3 miles, 700’ gain. Short scramble with Jimmy to move and recover our tired legs from hard running this week. The Warm Aztec Sandstone mixed with cool Fall breeze was sublime. " — paula.raimondi • Nov 13, 2020
"11.9.18...The most Epic Mountaineering Day of My Life. 10.5 Peaks, 11 miles, 4,200’ gain, 8hrs of sustained scrambling, traversing all the Calico Ridges in Red Rock in their entirety with Horse Peak as an extra credit (out of the way) running finale. My hands are completely bruised and battered and my hips and glutes are scraped clean of many layers of skin from crawling through sandstone all day. Thank you Harlan for keeping me safe with hand lines and body parts. Thanks for going out (pre event) and scoping out the exact route and stashing water and Gatorade. I can’t believe how strong we are. My mind is blown!.....Calico South Peak, Calico Hills 1 Peak, Red Book Peak, Calico Hills 2 Peak, Calico Tanks Peak, Red Cap (and its twin Peak Turtle Head Jr.), New Peak, Kraft Peak, Big Bird Peak (east Kraft) & Horse Peak (Peak 3844). I’m calling this signature route, “The long way to Horse Peak”." — paula.raimondi • Nov 9, 2018
"Chris G and I went for a scramble workout. After the peak we followed the ridge until my time was up and then we scrambled down. I did some hard (up)/downclimbs and leaps over and across a lot of scary stuff. Fun day " — paula.raimondi • Sep 24, 2018
