"Perfect day for a quick scramble up Yakima Peak. Cloudless with lush green and wildflowers out in force, but still a few patches of snow lingering from last season's epic snowfall. Finding the way up was a bit tricky, here are some rough directions: a climber's path branches off the Naches Peak loop trail above Tipsoo Lake and heads straight across the slope toward a medium-sized rock. Here head right up the slope in a washout gully serving as a climbers path, keeping the cliffband on the left. Follow it up a steep section through some evergreens and up onto a meadow. Climb up the meadow on the path to the base of the cliffband above. Scramble through the easiest part of the cliffband, and you'll be in another meadow (note the cairn here). Angle up and to the left on sometimes faint paths until you're in a gully. Climb up the gully all the way to the top and duck under some evergreen branches at the saddle. Head right here and after a few very easy 3rd class moves, emerge on the summit. Look straight down at the Tipsoo Lake parking lot, you tower over them. You are god! Then turn to the west at the full-frontal massiveness of Rainier. You are nothing! " — scott • Sep 4, 2011
