"Inspired by celebrating with my friend his climbing of his final Munro last week, I've decided to embark on my own Munro/Corbett/Grahams/P600 challenges - living in S Wales, I decided to tackle my nearest Corbetts: Pen y Fan (done before) and Waun Rydd.
Setting out from Neuadd car park, I headed out NE up a track to the Graig Fan Las ridge and then across to Waun Rydd via a well defined path down towards Talybont-on-Usk that narrowly misses its undefined/signposted peak with barely even what you'd call a path to it.
Waun Rydd is marked by a small pile of stones as even to call it a cairn is a disservice - with lovely views out towards Llangorse Lake, the Black Mountains and Sugarloaf in the distance. Unsurprisingly I had it to myself.
I find it really surprising Waun Rydd is so under the radar, given its status as one of the 4 Welsh Corbetts in the south of the country, but also quite glad as it feels like a little secret that so many people pass by literally a few hundred yards away without even realising!" — gwilymowen • Aug 1, 2021

"From Pontsticill Reservoir due north to Fan y Big, worked way along the ridge to this hill, unimpressive in poor visibility, small cairn, then back along same route, although not climbing Fan y Big on return." — vygodski • Oct 15, 2017
