"Maine might be the only place on the US East Coast where mountains meet the sea. Tunk Mountain is low but dramatic, with a rocky ridgeline and broad views out over nearby forests and ponds. The true summit is just a few hundred feet into private land, so the trail ends at the second highest spot. I had this beautiful place to myself in the late morning, but on the descent, the trail got a little more crowded than I like." — briansnyder • Oct 5, 2024

"Great day on Tunk mtn today, we visted the North overlook and the monument, as well as following a discontinued trail to the trie summit. It looks this hike used to be a loop but part of it was discontinued. It was interesting to follow but the views from the northern viewpoint were better anyway" — noahthackeray • May 21, 2023
