"I drove up to the parking lot of Sentinel peak, where it was littered with trash despite an abundance of trash cans and nice canopies installed by the city's park service. The air smelled like weed and there were about a dozen cars in the parking lot around noon. The summit hike was very short, and the view was neat, but the graffiti and trash detracted from the experience. It is a shame because the park amenities try to offer a nice experience, but few respect the area. The hike took me 4 mins to the summit with sweeping views of downtown Tucson.
I next drove to Tumamoc Hill, where I parked just outside the service road leading up to the summit around 1220. I came across over 30 people during the hike, but the paved road was well marked, plenty of signs for social distancing, and people seemed to all be wearing masks, despite the heat. I was impressed. The heat, 102 degrees when I started, broiled me as I ascended via the paved road. The road started with a gentle slope that became very steep after reaching the few structures standing around the halfway point. I saw signs for water, but I did not stop.
