"Mountain 2 of 5 for the day. An amazing and challenging class 3 hike from Mount Beirstadt to Mount Evans. The Sawtooth is a very jagged and rocky Mountain with plenty of places to do some very technical climbing. Making the climb from Beirstadt up along the ridge to the Sawtooth is a climb to be proud of. " — IanWright • Aug 23, 2015
"The trail marked by the cairns mark a class 2 through the boulder field until the fourth spire which is supposed to be easier to climb. It was the start of the class 3 portion with a climb. It's not very long but the drop below you will be intimidating to anyone without experience with a free climbing a face. This puts you on the final path to cross over the ledge. If you want to climb the spires along the way there is a path there as well for those who want a more technical crossing. However, if you are going with a mixed group this traverse offers a good chance to try more technical and go around the hardest climbs if it is too much. Once you pass through the final saddle to the ledge, it is certainly a challenge due to the incline of the trail which is made up of pebbles and sand; but the views from the top of the Sawtooth peak are incredible." — DaniB • Aug 23, 2015
"A wonderful traverse from Bierstadt. Rated class 3, it was almost pure class 2 aside from one 20ish foot chimney with more solid holds then I could count. Very easy if you'd like to introduce someone to class 3 who isn't afraid of a little exposure." — Christopher • Jul 21, 2013
"It was a great climb. I wasn't the best prepared as I only had worn out tennis shoes and not enough knowledge. It was a great experience for me and I have learned a great respect for those class 3 climbs. My goal was to do the entire Bierstadt, Sawtooth, Evans combo. I was exhausted after The Sawtooth and decided to not climb Evans. So, I came back down the gully and along Gomer Creek. The round trip took me about 9 hours.
