"AT Lash Day 6: Phyllis Spur to Amicolola Falls Visitor Center, with side trips to nearby peaks along the way. Took side trips out to Hawk Mountain, of which there’s nothing at the summit but a metal number, a few peaks just off the AT on the Benton MacKaye, and Long Creek Falls. The southern portion of the Georgia AT has quite scenic woods, and Amicolola Falls is a lovely park. " — wacbravo • Oct 14, 2024
"Lon and Ian started their day hike of the GA AT with an out and back from Springer parking to Three Forks. I joined them for the first part then took the Benton MacKaye Trail over the Rich Mountain ridge for a point to point where Gina picked me up. No blowdowns on this part of the BMT, but we took side trails around blowdowns on the first part of the AT. I forgot bug spray, so I kept moving as much as I could to keep the mosquitoes off me." — davidensley • May 19, 2024
"Easy route with no steep sections on the Appalachian Trail (AT) and Benton MacKaye Trail (BMT). Fighting fatigue, Gina and I hiked a slow pace, and she turned back after crossing the creek and climbing through the rhododendron tunnel. Between there and the gap where I took the BMT following the Rich Mountain ridge line, I saw a Pileated Woodpecker. On the way back I noticed a pair of trilliums right by the AT." — davidensley • Jul 3, 2023
