"After the intense rocky scrambles up and down along this part of the Quarry Tr. and not sure what lay ahead toward West Quarry, I opted to just return from No. Straightback the same way." — SteveM_StickMan • May 8, 2023
"Crisp, cool but sunny day in the Belknaps. Not sure we saw 30 deg. Sparse crowd as we hiked the Quarries and Straightbacks. But a lot of people on Major. Snow cover everywhere though." — Alohabuffy • Nov 19, 2022
"A hike for Molly to finish her Belknap 12. We parked in the Major trailhead and headed off to Straightback first. Then we went over to Anna, then Mack. We went down to Round Pond, then up to Klem, then onwards to Rand. We hit both peaks of Quarry. Then on to Straightback, then Major for the finish. We came down the Boulder Tr back to the car. "We finished up Redlining the Belknaps by completing the Dave Roberts Quarry trail. So we celebrated with a big loop hike peak-a-palozza hitting W. Quarry, Rand, Klem, Mack, Anna and E. Quarry. Beautiful blue skies, great day to be out in the Belknaps." — Alohabuffy • Apr 2, 2022
"Via Reed Road - Lost trail on the way up and bushwhacked our way to E. Quarry. Sunny Started at 7:58. 64 degrees light breeze and no humidity. Hit E. Quarry at 10:30. Lots of newts on the trail. We ended up bushwhacking our way as we lost the Reed Road trail and followed an old logging trail that turned into a heard path. Ended up on top of E. Quarry. Avoided the steep ascent on the Quarry trail. Left E. Quarry towards N. Straightback at 10:42. Returned to E. Quarry as we stopped short of N. Straightback. Glad we did this as the best views of the hike were on this part of the trail. We had about 200' of straight up vertical to climb. Knowing we needed to hit W. Quarry, I made the call to turn back. It was a good decision. Arrived back at E. Quarry at 11:50. Headed towards W. Quarry at 12. Reached the summit at 12:49. Saw 2 snakes on the way. Departed summit at 12:52. Finished the hike at 2:33. Long day.

"Beautiful day for a hike, temps in the 50s, sunshine and a breeze to keep the bugs off, Really enjoyed a big loop including both Quarry Mts, both Straightback Mts and Mt Major." — Alohabuffy • May 31, 2020
"Eastern Belknap look to finish up the Belknap 12s for two of our group - Fairhiker and Alison. Got a early enough start to be the only two cars in the Jesus Valley Road TH - quiet (just passed by a single runner) until the Quarry Trail. Fairly bug-free (surprising) until the summit of Rand- then the black flies swarmed and kept wanting our blood. We deviated from the trails with a shortcut through the woods from the col between Rand and Mack and the BRT near Anna. 7.7 mile loop on a sunny late May day followed by ice cream in Alton- a great time. "A loop hike to close out my Belknap 12. Good hike. Picked up 17 ticks and killed all of them. Not the greatest views on these mountains, but there were a couple here and there." — newenglandwarrior • Jun 28, 2019
"Loop hike to East and West Quarry. Started in drizzle and mist but sun just started breaking out as I arrived at first summit. Granite slabs were very slippery. Purple aster is blooming so summer is just about over!" — rjnick • Sep 15, 2018
"Temperatures were cool but pretty high humidity. Liked up to both East and West summits of Quarry mountain. Saw only one couple the whole morning. Rasberries were starting to ripen and were delicious. A nice little hike. Tried to identify some of the wildflowers." — rjnick • Jul 14, 2018
