"Decided to visit this peak on my journey northwards up the Sierra's. Climbed up from Tussock Bench off of Sherman Pass Road. There is a nice place to park right where the topo labels the bench.
Many flowers on the mountain. Wish I had climbed up during Spring. The approach while short (1.3 miles ish) and without significant gain (1200 feet) is not exactly an easy climb. The vegetation on the mountain itself is thick and not friendly. It is this spike ended thick bush and it cuts you up good. The challenge was deciding when to climb rather large boulders vs. going through this brush.
When I got to the top I was awarded with the summit registry. It turns out that only 25 (including me) people have signed the registry since 1976! Most of the climbers of that 25 occurred before 1990. I, myself, was the first to enjoy this peak for four years! A real treat getting this view all to myself. You can finally see the High Sierra's clearly from this point. Langley was finally dominating the background and Olancha was very evident in the foreground. This peak also has an excellent view of the Eastern Domelands as I am sure Bald Mountain does itself." — Irrationalist • Jun 16, 2013
