"Great day out from base in Wasdale. Started with the direct route to Kirk Fell, unrelentingly steep but quick. The ridge out to Caw Fell didn’t feel too long today; backtracking to Scoat Fell dragged a bit but had to be done! Then descended back to Wasdale via Red Pike and Yewbarrow which is always good. Slept well after a couple of beers." — johnandsue4fun • Apr 28, 2022

"A solo trip on the renown Mosedale Horseshoe, one of the finest Lakeland rounds. Pillar was my final English Marilyn. I began from Wasdale Head up Lower Mosedale, on an ant-clockwise round, arriving back at the car after sunset in darkness after 21:00 hrs. A magnificent hiking day, in hot and sunny weather, with but a breeze over the fells." — marktrengove2 • Sep 1, 2010

"Ascended in the course of running the Lake District Mountain Trial. From Wasdale Head to Yewbarrow, Red Pike, Pillar, Robinson’s Cairn, Black Sail Youth Hostel, saddle between Nape’s Ridge and Westmorland Crag, Great End and Lingmell." — peter43 • Sep 11, 1960

"Solo. A round from the top end of Wast Water over Yewbarrow North Top, Red Pike, Scoat Fell, Haycock and Pillar. Ran from the summit of Pillar to the top of Black Sail Pass and down Mosedale to Wasdale Head." — peter43 • Sep 1, 1960
