"Awesome mountain climb, follow the 14th lake for about a mile, and then left into the tree line for about a couple of miles. The last section is a steep rock scramble to some incredible views from the summit, out and back in about 7 miles. Great day with my hunny" — ramjet1963 • Sep 1, 2024
"Tom, Black dog and I left the 13th Lake trailhead at 8:50 under cloudy skies, a light breeze @ 45 degrees. We wore trail crampons to the base of the main mtn where the southern exposure had melted most of the ice. Summited at 11:15. Summit views were just ok. Breezy with a blowing mist. Wore micro spikes for the decent and return trip. Once we arrived at the lake we jumped onto the ice and returned the last 3/4 mile on the lake thus bypassing all the rocks, ice, water and snow. "Directions brought us to wrong spot first time. A couple miles hike to get to the beginning of the actual climb. Pretty straight for until the last 1/2 mile and it's quite a climb to the top. Beautiful view once you get to the top! Worth the climb!" — erikalh • May 25, 2020
"Hiked with Kim. Started out around 10:30. The trail in was very flat but nicely maintained for the most part, nice view of Thirteenth Lake during the first part of the hike. We didn’t have many problems with bugs, which is great! We saw lots of frogs & red efts, so cute! Kim also spotted a beaver near its dam. We made quick work of the flat & soon came up to the mountain proper, what a fun little climb, scrambly and short. The summit had a glorious breeze that we enjoyed for quite awhile, though there was a large group of hikers up there being so, so loud and obnoxious. The view was hazy but very beautiful, I really enjoyed this one, and it wasn’t too far from home! 27/29 for the 29ers! Getting close!" — kellieirene • Aug 2, 2018
"This is by far my favorite hike. It was an easy trail that followed the lake and then followed a creek which brought you to the pond. The climb to the top of the mountain from there was steep but short. There were some tough spots where you had to use your hands to climb but it was well worth the effort. It took 7.5 miles and 5 hours taking our time and stopping at the pond up and back. At the start there is a tree down and the trail disappears you just have to find your way around it. "Pretty easy hike into Peaked Mt. Pond, but from there the real hike starts as you gain almost 700' in under half a mile.
Views from the open summit are great & the High Peaks can be seen on a clear day." — billsussdorff • Jul 24, 2014
"A nice late winter hike. Not much snow, but the ice on the trail was tough in the steep section near the summit.

"We enjoyed a great hike with Johnny and Sarah while we were at Abanakee for the week. The 6.8 mile RT well marked trail winds through some beautiful woods and lowland areas before you begin the climb up the peak. The peak climb has a nice rocky feel to it and the open summit offers excellent views. " — deb-and-rob • Aug 10, 2011
