"My son and I woke up at dawn in the tent next to the Alhárabe River in the lands of Moratalla. We had breakfast and prepared to spend the day outside on a long route through these rugged mountains. We follow the course of the river as we ascend in a northwest direction, we cross some streams in which we see amphibians and water snakes searching for prey. Later, halfway along the route, we make a stop at a hot spring and cool off with a bath. After eating a little we continue the route going up the stream that surrounds the peak on the left, we leave the stream going up the ravine on the right to reach the peaks and as we gain height the landscape offers us beautiful images.
Some vultures can be seen taking flight thanks to the thermal air currents. At dusk some foxes show themselves because they come to browse or smell the food. Unforgettable day with my son in these mountains." — franciscobirruezo • Jun 17, 2024
"I was surprised by this area near the Camping La Puerta de Moratalla, they are not too high peaks, but I have found several streams of clean water where I have refreshed and the sound of the water has accompanied me throughout the day.
There are no trails so it is best to be guided with a good digital map or a GPS.
The terrain is quite rocky and the scrub abounds. A large tectonic fault runs through
the Sierra towards the West." — franciscobirruezo • May 20, 2019
